Your questions answered: Keeping our patients safe during COVID-19

A lot has changed since the COVID-19 outbreak. At Nilai Medical Centre, we want you to know that we have implemented our best safety protocols to ensure everyone walking through our door gets the care they need safely and with minimal risks.

At the height of the pandemic, one thing you shouldn’t do is put off or ignore your health care. Even during an outbreak, just like other times, skipping appointments poses great risk and may lead to complications.

How we’re keeping patients safe during the COVID-19 recovery

One single entrance

When you arrive at Nilai Medical, you will notice that there is only a single entrance through the Accidents and Emergency department. This is to better control the traffic through doors.

There will also be contactless temperature screenings at the entrance area, and only those without COVID symptoms are allowed inside.

Restricting Visitors

We know there are many situations where caregivers and family are helpful during an outpatient visit. However, at this time we have to restrict the number of people in our wards and waiting areas to support social distancing and foster a healthier, safer environment:

For all visitors or caregivers:

  • One caregiver is allowed per patient per day. Only 1 visitor per patient is allowed during visiting hours.
  • Should be a support person who is essential for the physical and mental well-being of the patient.
  • Must be age 18 or older and healthy. Children below the age of 12 years old are not permitted to visit patients in the ward.
  • Will be screened for symptoms of fever and illness when arriving and asked which patient they are visiting.
  • Must wear a face mask at all times, including in the patient room.
  • Stay in designated areas (such as patient’s room for inpatient or in waiting area for surgery and procedures) as much as possible.

Masks and Hand Sanitiser

All visitors and hospital staff members are required to wear a mask at all times within the facility. Social distancing measures are also strictly implemented around the hospital areas.

We place great emphasis on hand hygiene and sanitisation. Hand sanitisers are accessible at various locations within the hospital and instructions on effective hand washing is placed near sinks for visitors’ reference.

For those who use the elevator for your appointments, there will be limits for people to be in the space at the same time. Our elevators are sanitised every 2 hours, as well other frequently touched places are constantly being disinfected by our cleaning staff to halt the spread of germs.

Drive-thru screening services

We also provide drive-through screening services for our visitors to get tested safely and conveniently.

While getting tested in the comfort of your car, be assured that our staff members are following all safety best practices per the Ministry of Health’s requirement including the use of Personal Protective Equipment to minimise any exposures or hazards.

Safe places, trusted care

During this global COVID-19 pandemic, our commitment to giving you a safe, reliable place to receive care is even more important to us. So, if you are in an emergency, don’t delay. We want to see you, and we promise that your health is in our good hands.

We are here to provide you with the safest environment possible, because what keeps you safe, keeps us all safe.
