NMC Pink Run 2019 raises RM90,000 for Charity

Nilai, Sunday, November 17, 2019 — 6:00am

Nilai Medical Centre (Nilai Medical) hosted the NMC Pink Run — Power in Pink event today to raise funds for the underprivileged and financially challenged cancer patients, as well as to inculcate the importance of health and early screening.

Since the registration opened in late August this year, over 700 runners have registered for the run and with sponsorship from its various partners, the event successfully raised RM40,000 for the cancer patients.

To enable more cancer patients to benefit from the fund, N MC topped-up additional RM40,000 from its own coffers as part of its commitment and pledge to support the community. A generous and humble participant has also issued a RM 10,000 cheque on the same day to support the cause.

“NMC has always been committed to being a responsible corporate citizen and giving back to the society that we operate in. We are very grateful and delighted to see people from all walks of life joined our effort in giving back to those less fortunate,” said Ms. Jasmine Lau Mooi Hun, Chief Executive Officer of NMC.

A cheque amounting to RM80,000 was presented by Mr. Lei Lin Thai, Group Managing Director, to Dr.Murallitharan M, medical director of NCSM, witnessed by Mr. Ng Geok Tong, Nilai Municipal Councilor, Mr. Lei Yee Leong, Executive Director and Ms. Jasmine Lau, CEO of NMC.

The fund received through NMC Pink Run is fully donated to NCSM. Cancer patients referred from NCSM will be able to seek radiotherapy treatment here at a subsidised rate. This is made possible through a recent MoU between NCSM and NMC towards helping the financially challenged cancer patients to have access to affordable radiotherapy treatment.
